Marsh Marigold (or Kingcup) has large bright yellow flowers which light up damp meadows and marshlands in spring. The flowers are visited by beetles, flies and bees for the abundant nectar.

Perennial herb, up to 50 cm tall Stems: stout, hollow Leaves: heart or kidney-shaped, up to 10cm across, round-toothed. Basal leaves long-stalked, stem leaves short-stalked Flowers: 5 yellow sepals (no petals), large flowers up to 50mm across Fruit: green sac-like follicles, each opening to release several seeds Flowering time: March-June Habitat: Any wet location Distribution: Common throughout Britain, but decreasing |
