Snowdrop Valley can be found just north of Wheddon Cross in Exmoor.
The site is opened in February each year for the public to enjoy the carpets of snowdrops
along the river valley.
These snowdrops have been here for several centuries.
It is thought that they were planted in the 13th century by Benedictine monks
as a symbol of Candlemas, which falls on February 2nd (40 days after Christmas).
This is the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple,
and is also known as the Feast of the Purification of the Virgin Mary.
