Rose family |
Rubus fruticosus |
Rosaceae |
Bramble is a very common weed, which forms a tangle of prickly stems,
which is a useful source of food and cover for wildlife.
The flowers appear in spring, and are usually white, although they may be tinged pink.
The blackberry fruits, which used to be most prolific in September but nowadays
often appear as early as July, are a popular source of free food.
In autumn, some of the leaves turn yellow and red.
