Wild Cherry blossoms in early spring, a couple of weeks later than the Cherry Plum. When in flower, it may be distinguished from the Cherry Plum by the fact that it has stalked flowers. The red fruits are smaller than those of cultivated cherries. In autumn, the leaves turn from green to yellow and then to pink and red. The trunk of the tree is ringed with horizontal ridges.
