Great Willowherb | Willowherb family |
Epilobium hirsutum | Onagraceae |
Great (or Hairy) Willowherb grows in damp places such as marshes and riverbanks,
but also in drier places such as waste ground.
Its alternative name of Codlins-and-Cream derives from the combination of its rosy petals
and cream-coloured stamens and stigma (codlin is an old word for cooking apple).
