Field Bindweed | Bindweed family |
Convolvulus arvensis | Convolvulaceae |
Field (or Lesser) Bindweed is a creeping plant of cultivated and waste ground, or of coastal habitats, which twines anticlockwise around other plants or up fences. It has an extensive branched root system, and can be difficult to eradicate as a weed because even small fragments of the roots can grow into new plants. The flowers appear in summer, although they only open in sunny weather, and are usually pink with white stripes, but can also be white.
