Grey Willow (Sallow) | Willow family |
Salix cinerea | Salicaceae |
Grey Willow (also known as Common Sallow) usually grows in damp places and is often coppiced (for example around ponds), so does not usually grow into a full-sized tree. It has similar "Pussy Willow" catkins to Goat Willow, although the stamens of Grey Willow are more orange in colour. The leaves of Grey Willow are more elongated than those of Goat Willow, and are more grey-green in colour.
