False Oxlip | Primrose family |
Primula veris x vulgaris | Primulaceae |
False Oxlip is a well-recognised cross between Primrose (Primula vulgaris) and Cowslip (Primula veris), and may often be found where these two plants occur together. It differs from the Cowslip by having larger paler flowers, arranged in an umbel in which all the flowers hang in the same direction. It is very similar to the true Oxlip, but may be distinguished by the presence of thickenings at the mouth of the corolla-tube.
