Norway Maple | Maple family |
Acer platanoides | Aceraceae |
Norway Maple is an introduced tree which can reach up to 30 metres in height.
It is often planted in parks, as its red leaves form a great show in autumn.
It differs from the Field Maple by having leaves with sharp points.
The flowers are similar, although more yellowy-green in colour,
and come out earlier, appearing before the leaves.
In autumn the leaves turn yellow and orange.
